In December, 2019 I joined a group to hike to the summit of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. This was the final mountain in my voyages around the world. The mission was to become a healer, the ultimate goal.
We started from the Tanzania side, with a group of about 20 organized by Ultimate Kilimanjaro. We took the longest route, taking 8 days, to acclimatize to the altitude. IT was really a lot of hiking, one day we would ascend to 14,000 feet, the next day we would descend to 10,000 feet. On the final day, we got up at 2am and did the final leg from 14,000 feet to the summit (19,341 feet), and then descended all the way to base camp.
I’m still not certain how that mission worked out, but I do know that everything in my life changed.
